Education about the Samudaripen

Memory, education and human rights

Remembering the genocide of Roma people and using education to challenge anti-Roma racism.

Learning through memory

The project promotes inclusive education and awareness of the Samudaripen in primary and secondary schools and public universities across Catalonia.

Training and awareness

The article “Samudaripen, 2 August”, published in 2024, describes the educational work of the association’s president, Ricardo Valenti Gutierrez. It covers training in schools, universities, civic centres, libraries and bookshops.

The article considers how education can help people understand historical violence and contribute to preventing it. Romani memory is the thread connecting this work.

A training module about the Samudaripen

The 2024 article about the short training modules presents a session on the persecution, resistance and recognition of Roma people, with a focus on the Samudaripen. It links to Barcelona’s Anti-Rumours Network catalogue of intercultural activities.

The articles below provide context about this initiative and the association’s educational work. Please contact the association to discuss current availability.
