RROMANIPE’S (ROMANI IDENTITY)

We offer expertise in designing, implementing and evaluating public policies, encouraging participation and inclusion in the processes that affect minority rights.

We are a non-profit Romani organisation working in the social and cultural fields, established in Barcelona, Spain, in 2012. Our mission is to defend the principles of human rights and, in particular, minority rights, by promoting art and culture, tradition, language, history and identities.

RROMANIPE´S offers training for professionals working in education and social services on Romani culture and history, education and language policies, social action and participation across Catalonia, in more than 70 primary and secondary schools, civic centres, non-Roma organisations, universities, adult education centres and other institutions, with the aim of raising awareness of cultural diversity and providing tools to manage it. The intended impact is the eradication of hatred against Roma people: anti-Roma racism.

What are our objectives?

Fighting racism and discrimination and defending human rights

Making the values, traditions, history, culture and language of Romani people visible and better known as a way to prevent stereotypes and prejudice.

Raising awareness within the Romani community of the legal framework for equal treatment and non-discrimination, improving knowledge and use of it, and explaining how it is applied and the effects of its application.

Educating new generations about human rights and minority rights, both within and outside schools.

Advocating for the rights of Romani people before public authorities.

Multicultural empowerment of Roma people

Raising awareness and recognising diversity through the historical memory of Romani people.

Activities that equip Romani participants with tools and opportunities.

Recovering and revitalising the Romani language.

Encouraging Romani involvement in participatory and decision-making processes.
